Chemical property	White acicular crystals. Melting point 240-241 ºC. Easily soluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons, soluble in alcohols and ethers, slightly soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons, and insoluble in water. The molecule of this product contains two hydroxyl groups and a strong electron absorbing sulfone group, making it more acidic than other phenols.
Uses	As substitutes for Bisphenol A, used for polycarbonate, epoxy resin, polyester, and phenolic resin synthesis, as well as developer for photographic material and thermal paper.
