Description: Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid is a chelating agent, a material that tightly binds or captures metal ions, produced as a series of salts.
Properties: white crystal powder melting point 240ºC(decomposition). Insoluble in cold water, alcohol and general organic solvent, slightly soluble in hot water, but soluble in sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate and ammonia solution.
Applications: EDTA Acid and its salts are used for:
a. Pulp and paper production to improve bleaching & preserve brightness.
b. Cleaning products, primarily for de-scaling.
c. Chemical processing; polymer stabilization & oil production.
d. Agriculture in fertilizers.
e. Water treatment to control water hardness and prevent scale.
f. Textiles
